hnRNP-PEG4-TCO is a bioconjugate that incorporates heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer and a trans-cyclooctene (TCO) moiety. hnRNPs are a class of proteins associated with pre-mRNA processing and ribonucleoprotein complex formation. They play critical roles in splicing, mRNA transport, and regulation of gene expression. Given the role of hnRNPs in mRNA splicing and processing, hnRNP-PEG4-TCO can be used to investigate the splicing machinery in cells. This can provide insights into how hnRNPs regulate alternative splicing and gene expression. hnRNP-PEG4-TCO can also be used to deliver therapeutic agents specifically to cells expressing certain hnRNPs. By attaching drugs to tetrazine-labeled carriers, targeted delivery can be achieved, enhancing treatment efficacy.
