Description

Mannosamine-biotin adduct is formed by covalently linking biotin to the hydroxyl group (-OH) of mannosamine through a stable chemical linkage. It can be used in glycoprotein enrichment strategies, where biotinylated mannose analogs can bind to lectins or other affinity matrices specific for mannose-containing glycans. This facilitates the characterization and quantification of glycoproteins in biological samples. Moreover, mannose receptors are expressed on certain immune cells, such as macrophages and dendritic cells. Mannose-biotin adducts can be incorporated into drug delivery systems to specifically target these cells. Biotin can be conjugated to therapeutic agents or nanoparticles, allowing them to bind to mannose receptors on target cells, thereby enhancing drug delivery efficiency and specificity.
