Description

Mono-(6-amino-6-deoxy)-β-cyclodextrin (1N-βCD) is a chemically modified derivative of β-cyclodextrin, where one of the hydroxyl groups at the C6 position on the glucose unit has been replaced by an amino group (-NH2). 1N-βCD forms inclusion complexes with hydrophobic drugs, improving their solubility and bioavailability. The introduction of the amino group allows for covalent attachment to drugs or targeting moieties, enabling controlled release systems. Additionally, the amino group on 1N-βCD can act as a functionalization site for attaching cyclodextrin molecules to nanoparticles, improving their stability, solubility, and targeting abilities. It is widely used in designing cyclodextrin-coated nanoparticles for therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
