mPEG-PLA-COOH (Methoxy Poly(ethylene glycol)-b-Poly(lactide)-Carboxylic acid) can be used to encapsulate imaging agents for various imaging modalities, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or fluorescence imaging. The controlled release of imaging agents can enhance contrast and improve diagnostic capabilities. Besides, the biocompatibility and controlled biodegradability of PLA make mPEG-PLA-COOH suitable for use as scaffolds in tissue engineering. The copolymer can provide support for cell adhesion, proliferation, and tissue regeneration.
