BIX 01294 is a small molecule inhibitor of histone methyltransferase, specifically targeting G9a (also known as EHMT2), which plays a role in histone methylation and gene expression regulation. This compound is used to inhibit G9a, an enzyme involved in the trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 9 (H3K9me3). Inhibition of G9a can lead to changes in gene expression and chromatin structure.
