Description

NHS-SS-Biotin is designed to covalently attach biotin to proteins or other molecules via primary amines (-NH2) and includes a disulfide linkage for potential cleavage under reducing conditions. NHS-SS-biotin is used for site-specific biotinylation of proteins or peptides where primary amines are present. This enables the introduction of biotin tags without affecting protein function significantly. Biotin is covalently linked to the NHS-SS-biotin molecule, providing a high-affinity tag for subsequent detection, purification, or interaction studies using streptavidin or avidin. The NHS ester group reacts selectively with primary amines (-NH2) on proteins or peptides to form stable amide bonds. This reaction is commonly used for labeling proteins and other biomolecules.
