Description

PAMAM-integrated TOF (Tapered optical fiber based sensor with the integration of polyamidoamine dendrimer) combines tapered optical fiber technology with polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers to enhance the sensitivity and specificity of optical sensing applications. The sensor can be tuned to detect harmful gases such as ammonia or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by functionalizing PAMAM with appropriate receptors. In addition, the PAMAM dendrimer’s ability to bind specific biological markers allows for the detection of diseases (e.g., cancer biomarkers, pathogens). PAMAM dendrimers are commonly utilized in pharmaceuticals for targeted drug delivery and gene therapy, in diagnostics as biosensors and imaging agents, in cosmetics for active ingredient delivery, and in materials science for enhancing properties in nanocomposites and catalysts.
