Description

PBYP-g-PEG-g-DOX is an acid-labile polyphosphoester-doxorubicin prodrug. PBYP refers to a polyphosphoester polymer with a backbone that includes phosphoester linkages. Polyphosphoesters are known for their biocompatibility and biodegradability. The acid-labile nature of this polymer means that it can be hydrolyzed under acidic conditions, such as those found in the tumor microenvironment. This property allows for the controlled release of the drug in a targeted manner. Doxorubicin is a potent chemotherapeutic agent that intercalates with DNA, inhibiting replication and transcription, leading to cell death. In the prodrug form, it is covalently attached to the polymer via a linkage that is sensitive to acidic conditions. PBYP-g-PEG-g-DOX is primarily used for targeted cancer therapy.
