PDLLA-PEG-PDLLA (Poly(D,L-lactide)-block-poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(D,L-lactide)) copolymers are utilized in the fabrication of biomedical implants, such as sutures, screws, plates, and stents, due to their biocompatibility, mechanical strength, and degradation properties. The copolymer can be processed into various forms and shapes to meet specific clinical requirements. The controlled degradation of PDLLA ensures gradual implant resorption and replacement with new tissue, minimizing the risk of inflammation and foreign body reactions. PEGylation enhances implant surface lubricity and reduces protein adsorption, thereby improving tissue compatibility and long-term performance.
