PEI Coated Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (Polyethyleneimine-Coated Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles, Iron Oxide (II,III), Fe3O4, Magnetite) consist of iron (Fe) and oxygen (O) atoms forming the iron oxide core, while the surface of these nanoparticles is coated with a layer of polyethyleneimine (PEI). The PEI coating imparts a positive surface charge to the nanoparticles, making them suitable for electrostatic interactions with negatively charged molecules, including nucleic acids, proteins, and cell membranes.
