PF8DTBT or Poly[2,7-(9,9-di-octyl-fluorene)-alt-4,7-bis(thiophen-2-yl)benzo-2,1,3-thiadiazole] or Poly[2,1,3-benzothiadiazole-4,7-diyl-2,5-thiophenediyl(9,9-dioctyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diyl)-2,5-thiophenediyl] or PFODBT is commonly used as an electron-donor material in bulk heterojunction OPVs. When blended with an electron acceptor material such as fullerene derivatives (e.g., PCBM), PF8DTBT forms an active layer that absorbs sunlight and generates photocurrent through exciton dissociation and charge carrier transport.
