Plain Unsaturated 18:0-18:2 PC: Cholesterol Liposomes, Lyophilized Powder are composed of a mixture of phosphatidylcholine (PC), with 18:0 (palmitic acid) as the saturated fatty acid and 18:2 (linoleic acid) as the polyunsaturated fatty acid, along with cholesterol, a sterol lipid. The unsaturated fatty acid (18:2) in the phosphatidylcholine provides more fluidity to the membrane, allowing for more dynamic movement within the bilayer, which can enhance membrane interactions and ease of fusion with cellular membranes. The addition of cholesterol in the formulation stabilizes the bilayer and can lead to more uniform vesicle sizes.
