Poly(D-lysine hydrobromide) (PDL HBr) is a synthetic polymer composed of repeating units of the amino acid D-lysine, which are linked together to form a polymeric chain. D-lysine is an amino acid, and the polymer consists of numerous D-lysine units joined together by chemical bonds. Due to its positive charge, Poly(D-lysine hydrobromide) is commonly employed in cell culture and tissue engineering. Cells have a negative surface charge, and they readily adhere to positively charged surfaces. Researchers use Poly(D-lysine hydrobromide)-coated substrates to promote cell adhesion and facilitate cell growth and proliferation.
