Description

Polystyrene A Sulfonyl Chloride (polymer bound alkylsulfonyl chloride) is widely employed in SPOS for its ability to facilitate diverse transformations. The immobilized sulfonyl chloride groups react with nucleophiles to yield various functional derivatives while keeping the resin intact. The sulfonyl chloride moiety is covalently attached to the aromatic rings of the polystyrene. Structurally, the group features a sulfur atom double-bonded to two oxygen atoms and single-bonded to a chlorine atom. This arrangement creates a highly reactive electrophilic site capable of undergoing a wide range of substitution and coupling reactions.
