Polystyrene AM HMPA (Aminomethyl Polystyrene functionalized with a 4-(hydroxymethyl)-phenoxyacetic acid linker) is a specialized resin derived from aminomethyl polystyrene, in which an aminomethyl group is introduced to the aromatic backbone of polystyrene. This modification significantly enhances the chemical reactivity of the resin. To increase the utility of the resin in various applications, the aminomethylated polystyrene is further functionalized with a 4-(hydroxymethyl)-phenoxyacetic acid linker, which contains a hydroxymethyl group and a phenoxyacetic acid group. These modifications provide both hydroxymethyl and carboxyl groups that are useful for covalent bonding with a wide variety of chemical, organic, or biological molecules.
