Polystyrene AM HMPA (Aminomethyl Polystyrene functionalized with a 4-(hydroxymethyl)-phenoxyacetic acid linker) is commonly employed in solid-phase synthesis, drug development, environmental remediation, and surface functionalization. Polystyrene is a non-polar, rigid polymer that provides structural integrity to the resin. The aminomethyl group enables the resin to participate in a wide range of chemical processes and serves as an excellent functional handle for solid-phase peptide synthesis, where it acts as the site for attachment of peptide chains or other molecules during synthesis. The phenoxyacetic acid portion of the linker contains a carboxyl group (-COOH) that can readily form covalent bonds with amines or alcohols, facilitating bioconjugation and enabling the linker to act as a bonding site for biomolecules or organic compounds.
