Polystyrene C4 PHB is predominantly used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). In SPPS, the resin serves as a support on which the first amino acid is covalently attached. Subsequent amino acids are added one by one through coupling reactions, building the peptide chain stepwise. The butyl group enhances the hydrophobic environment, potentially improving the solubility and stability of hydrophobic peptides during the synthesis process.
