Polystyrene Wang NPC (Polystyrene Wang p-Nitrophenyl Carbonate) is a type of resin support that contains a p-nitrophenyl carbonate functional group attached to the polystyrene backbone. The p-nitrophenyl carbonate group is an excellent leaving group and is often used in amino acid coupling reactions, where the amino acid is activated and attached to the solid-phase support. The nitrophenyl group also serves as a protecting group that can be removed under specific conditions, allowing for the sequential addition of amino acids in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS).
