Description

SLC-NHS-(+)-Biotin refers to a biotin derivative that has been functionalized with an NHS ester group. SLC-NHS-(+)-Biotin is used to label proteins through amine-reactive chemistry. The NHS ester group reacts with primary amines on proteins to form stable amide bonds, effectively biotinylating the protein. Biotinylated proteins can then be detected using streptavidin or avidin conjugates in various assays such as Western blotting, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry. Moreover, biotin has a high affinity for streptavidin or avidin, which can be immobilized on solid supports. Biotinylated proteins or nucleic acids can be affinity-purified using these immobilized streptavidin/avidin matrices, enabling isolation and purification of specific biomolecules from complex mixtures.
