Thiol-PEG-OH (HS-PEG-OH, SH-PEG-OH, Thiol-PEG-Hydroxy) is a polyPEG derivative which is reactive with maleimide, disulfides, and transition metal via metal-thiolate complex. Thiol groups are highly reactive and can form strong covalent bonds with other thiol groups, certain metals, and specific functional groups. PEGylation enhances water solubility, biocompatibility, and stability. It also reduces nonspecific interactions and immune responses. The terminal hydroxyl (-OH) group is a functional group that is involved in various chemical reactions, including esterification, etherification, and hydrogen bonding. It can be further derivatized to other molecule.
