Description

Water Soluble Beta Cyclodextrin Epichlorohydrin Copolymer is a copolymer formed by the polymerization of beta-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and epichlorohydrin (ECH). Beta-cyclodextrin is a cyclic oligosaccharide composed of seven glucose units linked by alpha-1,4 glycosidic bonds. It has a truncated cone shape with a hydrophobic cavity and a hydrophilic outer surface. β-CD is known for its ability to form inclusion complexes with guest molecules, especially hydrophobic ones, thereby improving their solubility, stability, and bioavailability. Epichlorohydrin is an organic compound used as a crosslinking agent in the synthesis of polymers. It contains an epoxide group (oxirane ring), which undergoes ring-opening polymerization reactions under basic conditions. ECH is commonly used in the synthesis of water-soluble polymers and resins.
